I couldn’t experimentally prove how the evolutionarily first gene circuit appeared on Earth (which was the core of my HTGAA final project), so we wrote a review article based on the existing literature, and our findings have been published in Springer Nature's Archives of Microbiology journal. Project title: The First Genetic Circuit on Earth

I am actively working on it and hoping to publish a research article ASAP.

I have some findings and I will skip the final project presentation for my own sanity. But I am hoping to complete a proper research article within may 28th and if I be able to do that, once I submit a paper to a journal only then I will document it here. (Sacrificing my CL certificate may be, but hopefully its worth it.)

My chosen circuits so far:

  1. VapBC Toxin Antitoxin system
  2. MazEF Toxin Antitoxin system

Genes targeted for rigorous analysis:

  1. VapB antitoxin (as Gene B): Silences VapC. Transcription factor, might repair DNA.
  2. VapC toxin (as Gene A): RNase, might halt the reproduction.
  3. MazE antitoxin (as Gene B): Silences MazF. Transcription factor, might repair DNA.
  4. MazF toxin (as Gene A): RNase, might halt the reproduction.
